Juan Newsome was three years old when Jesus touched his feet and broke a fever that could have killed him. It was the first of what he describes as thousands of dreams and visions, many recorded in a thick dream journal. In this episode of God’s Truth Podcast, he shares the ones that stayed with him most: God’s throne room, the rapture, Christ on the white horse, New Jerusalem, and his childhood best friend in hell.
Healed by Jesus at three
Juan grew up in Virginia, adopted by a God-fearing mother who prayed constantly. As a small boy, he was rushed to hospital with a fever of around 105°F. Doctors tried medicine and an ice bath, and he went to bed still burning up.
When he found the strength to open his eyes, a tall angel stood in the room, and Jesus was there. Juan never saw His face, but he knew. “When you’re around Him,” he says, “you know it’s Him.” Jesus touched his feet, and he woke in the morning healed.
A fire that cleanses
At 15, Juan was under frequent demonic attack. One night, he says, a flash like thunder and lightning filled his room, the demons scattered, and Jesus touched his big toe, just as He had before. Juan felt his spirit leap out of his body, on fire. “It’s kind of like the burning bush,” he says. “The fire didn’t consume you. It cleanses you.”
A year later, a bus slammed into his old car. As it lurched towards a building, he felt hands pressing against him, holding his head back from the steering wheel. He began to see angels too: no wings, just long coats.
Saved, and speaking in tongues
In college, struggling after a breakup, working overnight shifts and nursing an injury, Juan got serious with God. He had grown up attending a church called Calvary Revival, where the whole congregation prayed in tongues and new believers often came out of the baptism waters speaking them. When Juan was baptised, nothing happened.
A few days later he dozed off during a night shift and woke up speaking in tongues, full blast, for ten minutes, in front of his colleagues. “It was just like the Pentecost moment,” he says.
A mission field in corporate America
Juan expected to become a pastor. Instead, God led him into corporate life, and he says he has led more people to Jesus there than anywhere else. He names the three things the enemy dangles most in that world: money, power and sexual integrity. He intercedes for colleagues when God shows him their struggles in dreams, and people often seek him out to tell him their life stories.
The throne room
In his second year in corporate work, backsliding and struggling, Juan had a dream in which he found himself on a balcony in God’s throne room. He saw saints in different garments and crowns, laying their crowns at God’s feet and bowing low. Small angels flew around the throne crying, “Praise the Lord,” while others tended the hem of His garment.
He says the Father was too vast to describe, His face hidden in light, His bare feet as big as the Empire State Building. “You can feel His purity, His goodness, His holiness,” Juan says. “When you praise God, you can feel His smile.” He woke up praising.
The rapture, the white horse and New Jerusalem
In a dream of the rapture, Juan saw Jesus appear in the sky, visible to everyone at once, with fear sweeping over the unbelievers. The world in his dream was far more technologically advanced than today, with flying cars and artificial intelligence “maxed out.” He is firm, though, that no one can set a date. Only the Father knows.
In another vision he saw Christ mounting a white horse, wearing a simple garment inscribed with a name only He knows, as armies of men, angels and beasts prepared for war.
And he saw New Jerusalem, with streets of white gold you can see your reflection in, colours that don’t exist on earth, rainbows, twelve gates, and part of the city on clear water. Juan admits this is where his visions “get weird”: he describes ships at the dock, one of which carried him through space to another inhabited world, so fast that he had to pull himself out of the vision.
His best friend in hell
The vision that shook Juan most was of hell. He says it was set in the season before the final judgment, when the damned were briefly able to walk around. They were running in panic, looking for a way out that didn’t exist.
Among them was Tony, his best friend growing up, who had been shot and killed years earlier. Juan had always assumed a tragic death might earn some kind of grace. God showed him otherwise. “You got to live right,” he says. Christ died the most horrific death of all, and no death of ours compares.
War, judgment and assignments
Juan also describes the war after the millennium, when Satan is loosed for a little season: thinking machines battering Jerusalem while the armies of heaven fought back. After it ended, he saw Jesus face to face for the only time in all his visions, giving people their eternal assignments. Every manager Juan had ever worked for was there, and Jesus was angry with those who had abused their authority. “He don’t play,” Juan says. “The first shall be last and the last shall be first.”
He believes some saints were given charge over planets, pointing to God’s promise that Abraham’s descendants would number the stars, and to creation waiting for the sons of God to be revealed (Romans 8:19).
Why he waited
For years, Juan kept all of this to himself and his journal. He wanted to understand it first, through the Word and time with the Holy Spirit. He also shares dreams about world events, including a coming false world peace and a decline in America’s power, which he links to the nation’s relationship with Israel (Genesis 12:3). He closes the episode praying for everyone watching to know God better, because, he says, “your purpose for us is reconciliation.”
